In peripheral artery disease, the blood flow is reduced due to narrowing of artery. A recent study focuses on the fact that depression for a long term gradually exposes the person to the risk of vascular disease like peripheral artery disease.Due to depression a person’s physical activities are reduced, and he/she starts smoking, drinking etc. all of which adds to the cause of further health complications.

Peripheral artery disease is marked by immense pain, and in severe cases lack of mobility and gangrene as well as amputation. Managing stress thus becomes the foremost necessity to avoid such consequences and it’s also an alarm to doctors to treat the symptoms of depression at the early stage. Moreover, lifestyle plays a vital role in managing several health issues.

A healthy lifestyle with good amount of exercise, diet with lots of antioxidants, and in the lack of smoking and alcohol intake prevents the occurrence of periphery artery disease keeping a person healthy and well sustained. Depression not only hampers and damages the nerve cells but also induces the production of anti-oxidants in excessive amount in our body and the later leads to various cancers, vascular diseases, etc.
